The Rump & Wade Brasserie

Our first task was to assess the condition of the existing interior of a building originally built 1648 identifying elements that hold historical significance. We then determined which features should be preserved, restored, or replicated to maintain the hotel’s authenticity.
Space Planning: Analyze the functional requirements of the restaurant, including seating capacity, dining areas, bar areas, and circulation paths. We then considerd the restaurant’s layout and architectural constraints when allocating spaces aiming for a harmonious balance between historic features and functional needs.
Create
The aim was to develop a design concept that pays homage to the restaurant’s historical roots while incorporating modern sensibilities. As part of our creative design process we began by creating a narrative that looked to capture the essence of the Georgian period of the original build, and translating it into a contemporary design language.
We chose materials that reflect the original design aesthetic and are sympathetic to the historical context, introducing comfortable modern furniture, fixtures, and decorative picture elements that strike a balance between historical authenticity and contemporary visual graphic impact. a color palette was selected that complements the historic character of the hotel whilst evoking a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.
Detail
Attention to Detail: We pride ourselves on our meticulous attention to detail. From the selection of hardware to the placement of decorative accents, every aspect is carefully considered. We ensured that all elements are aligned, level, and seamlessly integrated into the overall design. It is these small details that contribute to the overall authenticity and quality of the fit-out.
Throughout the fit-out process, we collaborated closely with the project manager, illustrator, joiners, decorators and upholsterers to ensure the smooth execution of the project. Regular communication, site supervision, and coordination with various trades are essential to achieve the desired outcome within the specified timeline and budget.
Deliver
A seamless blend of the old and the new, combining warmth, cosiness, and contemporary elements. The result is a space where customers can relax, eat great food, and enjoy a memorable dining experience in a historic brasserie setting.
